Jan. 3rd, 2006

audrey

Happy New Year, it's time to get our 2006 on. I can't hardly believe it.

Well, lets just say, that this year's new years eve didn't hold a candle to last year's at the Overtime Pub in Brooklyn, (shout out to blerg's NY crew!) but there was something very special about a quiet evening with [info]deliquesce and Brendan. Great times catching up with the Nebraska kids, and sipping Champagne out of real Crystal glasses.

For the past several weeks, I've been feeling like I've been running two steps behind. The trend is still continuing. Today, on January 3, 2006, I will be trying to write Christmas Cards and finish my thank you notes from my dad's funeral in August.

I have been working at Herbergers (department store) since the moment I set foot in Havre, and since yesterday was my last day, I feel my Christmas Vacation has really begun. (two weeks late.)

So now, before I get two more weeks behind, I'm going to do all my silly little 2005 year in review things. I think I did the meme last year, but haven't done some of this other stuff in awhile! Ta da!

1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?

Had my work appear on television in a top ten market.
Bought a computer.
Spoke at a funeral.
Got paid to edit some crap for this random girl. 40 bucks an hour!
Was the victim of a crime (wallet stolen at Nationals game.)
Was a production assistant at the local DC emmys.                                                                     Got a 4.0! (Okay so it was summer and I only took one class!)                                                       Bought Versace sunglasses.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

Last year: Skinny up, keep the grades up, watch your spending. I gained weight this year, but I got great grades. 5 A's, 3 B's, and we won't talk about the one F. Spending...probably a little better.

Next year: work on self esteem, seriously lose 30 pounds, figure out identity theft disaster, make plans for first international voyage. (study abroad!) Read more books.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

One of my best friends in junior high had twins. My cousin Allie (5 years younger than me) had a cute baby. And yay, my buddies Ray and Kevin will be welcoming new little ones in 2006!

4. Did anyone close to you die?

My dad died. So did a good friend's mom. We've recently been reunited in grief.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005:

Cherish every day. Make the most of it. Don't give up your dreams.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:

Two, actually: Changeless by Carbon Leaf:

Call my friends to share some wine
To share some laughs, and last goodbyes
My photographs of these years
Will make me laugh through the tears

What are the odds, what are the odds?
This ends and we don't meet again
What are the odds, What are the odds?
That I will miss your smile

Take awhile! Take awhile! Take care and
Fly away and see the world
Take awhile! Take awhile! Take time and
If you need rest, I'll keep your nest
Changeless

Let fondness be our souvenir
To keep it warm, we'll keep it near
Otherwise with no heart to recall...
A memory's just a memory after all
I will not leave this pulse alone
Though it may take the long way home
I will not wait until the end
For my applause for you my friend

What are the odds, what are the odds?
This ends and we don't meet again
What are the odds, what are the odds?
This ends and we won't meet again
What are the odds, What are the odds?
That I have missed your smile

WARREN ZEVON lyrics - "Keep Me In Your Heart"

www.OldieLyrics.com

(Warren Zevon & Jorge Calderon)

Shadows are falling and I'm running out of breath
Keep me in your heart for awhile

If I leave you it doesn't mean I love you any less
Keep me in your heart for awhile

When you get up in the morning and you see that crazy sun
Keep me in your heart for awhile

There's a train leaving nightly called when all is said and done
Keep me in your heart for awhile

Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo
Keep me in your heart for awhile

Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo
Keep me in your heart for awhile

Sometimes when you're doing simple things
around the house
Maybe you'll think of me and smile

You know I'm tied to you like the buttons on
your blouse
Keep me in your heart for awhile

Hold me in your thoughts, take me to your dreams
Touch me as I fall into view
When the winter comes keep the fires lit
And I will be right next to you

Engine driver's headed north to Pleasant Stream
Keep me in your heart for awhile

These wheels keep turning but they're running out
of steam
Keep me in your heart for awhile

Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo
Keep me in your heart for awhile

Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la-li-li-lo
Keep me in your heart for awhile

Keep me in your heart for awhile
